You will need a collar to mount any Allen Engineering reflex suppressor. There are many collar options you can choose from. For an overview of all of them click here.
For brake mounted suppressors you should have 7-10 turns. For direct thread suppressors you should have a minimum of 7 turns. For more information click here.
The 5.56 and .30cal muzzle devices are functionally the same since they both share the M22x1 external thread pitch. This means any Allen Engineering suppressor can mount on any OPS/AE muzzle device.
However the bore size of the muzzle devices do not allow .30cal or 6mm rounds to be shot from a 5.56 brake. You can shoot 5.56 from the .30cal brake.
Simply, any AEM5 variant (5-30, 5k, 5-30k) will all share the same mounting style (A-Mount). The newer AEM suppressors (2, 3, 4) will all share the same mounting style (B-Mount). Direct thread suppressors (M4, M24) have their individual mounting styles. For more information click here.

They are functionally the exactly the same, it just comes down to how you want to time your muzzle device. So if you are struggling figuring out which one will work for your setup, they will both work. The only difference is that one uses a crush washer and the other uses shims. We currently do not make a suppressor to fit over a 16″ FSB barrel. Here are some alternatives.
- 14.5″ FSB barrel (carbine gas), M4 suppressor, and 3-piece Long Collar
- 14.5″ FSB barrel (mid gas), AEM5, OPS Brake, and 3-piece Short Collar
- 12.5″ FSB barrel (carbine gas), AEM5, OPS Brake, and 3-piece Short Collar

The DD SPR collars were made specifically to work with the Daniel Defense MK12 to allow mounting of an A length suppressor like the AEM5. Made to the same standards as the standard MOD1 SPR Collar, the taper offset has been adjusted to work with the step on legacy Daniel Defense MK12 barrels that have a 2.3″ offset from muzzle to the locating step in the barrel. Use these in combination with an OPS INC brake.
According to Daniel Defense the barrels were updated 5/9/2022. So any barrel manufactured after that date should have a standard SPR profile. However they did not scrap inventory, so there are barrels that were sold after that date with the old geometry. You should be able to know manufacture date from the barrel serial number which always starts with month and year “MMYYXXXXX”
If you want to be sure before purchase, verify the length of the offset in the barrel. You can do this by measuring the distance between the muzzle and the step in the barrel. If it is 2.3″, use the DD specific collar. If it measures 2.4″, you can use a standard SPR collar.
