The AEM4-65 suppressor is an evolution of the standard 5.56 AEM4, but designed primarily for use with 6mm and 6.5mm calibers. While the classic AE/OPS INC baffle design is still in use, we didn’t want to just open the bore up and call it good. The reason the AEM4 was chosen is primarily due to the shorter B-length mount that allows it to be used on short-dwell barrels, common among the 6mm ARC family. Our original prototype was made to fit a 16″ Rifle gas barrel with a tapered gas block.
Due to bullet yaw that happens with longer bullets as they leave the muzzle, it was necessary to use a slightly larger bore diameter than we would normally use. After testing, it made sense to make it compatible with both 6.5mm calibers like 6.5 Grendel which also gave plenty of clearance for the longer bullets used with 6mm ARC and 6mm MAX.
Finally, we gave it the same internal treatments as the .30 caliber suppressors which allows it to be ideal for larger calibers like 6.5 Creedmoor. This extends the useful life of the suppressor on smaller calibers as well.
Overall Length: 8.4”
Weight: 20oz
Recommended barrel clearance: 2.2”
Mounting length (start of collar taper to end of muzzle): B length standard, 2.05”
All brake mounted suppressors should have between 7-10 turns for best fitment.
